NORTHPORT, NY — Archie, a 2-year-old male cat, is the Northport Cat Rescue Association's Pet of the Week.
Archie lived on the streets of Brooklyn all alone, trying to get by, according to Lora Wild, a volunteer with the cat rescue. He was taken into the Northport rescue, and for the first time in probably his whole life, he is safe, Wild said.
"When a cat comes from life on the streets, it does come with some insecurities," Wild said. "Archie is currently in our habitats in Petco Huntington, and longs for kindness and soft pets and gentle words. Our volunteers are slowly breaking down his walls. What Archie needs is a home with patience."
Archie was described by Wild as adorable with "amazing" markings.
"He reminds us of a little cheetah cub," Wild said. "He loves to play with a feather toy, but since he still needs a little more courage to venture outside his habitat, he will bat it around while staying safe inside. He loves head rubs and will even allow some to hold him, although he will tremble a bit. In the right home, we know he will thrive. This little boy has had rough beginnings. We are looking for that special family that will give him the time he needs to feel safe and show him what it feels like to be loved."
Archie is neutered, has all his shots, is litter box-trained, and micro-chipped and FELV/FIV negative.
If you are interested in meeting Archie, please head to the Northport Cat Rescue website and fill out an application to let them know you would like to meet him or any of the rescue's other wonderful kittens and cats! Or you can call NCRA at 631-606-2631 or email info@northportcatrescue.org.
